in the summer of 2024, I stumbled upon some open-source robotic arm projects on YouTube and GitHub. Out of curiosity, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the motors, servos, and other parts from Taobao, which turned out to be much cheaper than Amazon and made experimenting less risky.
With the assembly guide in hand, I spent about a week soldering and piecing everything together. At first, nothing worked—the arm wouldn’t move at all. Thanks to my Python background, I started troubleshooting and eventually found one tiny wire soldered in the wrong place. After fixing it, the arm finally came to life, rotating and even grabbing small objects.
It was such a fun project! More than just building a robotic arm, it gave me confidence in problem-solving and showed me how powerful open-source learning can be.
